James Scully, who plays Forty Quinn on the second season of Netflix’s drama series “You,” talked about the lengths he went to for researching his character.
“In the three months I had leading up, I would just go out in Los Angeles–maybe to places that I would not normally spend time–people watching,” he said.
After a while, there was a certain type of immature personality that Scully was sure to channel in his pursuit of Forty.
“What he ended up becoming was sort of like a 13-year-old boy operating inside a grown man’s body,” he said.
Scully hung around Los Angeles’ Soho House, watched the first season of “You” and read Caroline Kepnes’ book of the same name that inspired the show.
“I loved it. First episode, Penn [Badgley] is across the street, watching her through the window. I was like, ‘Wow, they are going there. They are going all the way there,” he said.
