Why Nick Cannon Wanted to Spotlight a Jamaican Subculture for Directorial Debut 'King of the Dancehall'

Nick Cannon’s no longer nervous about unveiling his directorial debut, “King of the Dancehall.”

“I already had the dream that everybody hated it and I woke up,” he said during an interview at the Variety Studio presented by airbnb.

“Once I was in Jamaica, I started hearing all these tales and these folk tales mixed in with potent subculture that I knew about, but I didn’t know how deep it went. I was like, ‘I would love to put all of that together in a film,'” Cannon said.
