The series finale of NBC’s “The Good Place” marks the end of four seasons of actually feeling like we were all in the good place. But alas, the end is here. So what will the cast mates and creators miss the most? We asked William Jackson Harper, Kristen Bell, Jameela Jamil, D’Arcy Carden, Manny Jacinto and show creator Michael Schur.
“I’m gonna miss the fans that we have,” Jackson Harper said. “The people that get into the granular nitty, gritty of every single choice. When the work goes somewhere and someone appreciates every, little tiny piece of it. That’s a huge compliment. And it makes you feel like Wow it’s really worth it, to be that specific.”
Meanwhile an emotional Bell was sad to miss, just about everything! “I’m going to miss having a community of people… people on the show, people who work on the show and the fans who were excited about getting a road map about how to be a good person, were ready for an introduction into philosophy, learned how to be kinder and also still loved fart jokes along the way.”
“Kindness is a fart joke,” Jackson Harper agreed.
What will Jameela Jamil miss most about her character Tahani Al-Jamil? The name dropping. But it wasn’t all love from the get-go with Tahani. “I hated her so much in season one,” Jamil said. “And it’s so hard to play someone that you hate. I had to make myself fall in love with her in order to help other people do that. And Mike [Schur] helped me with the writing. Yeah she’s not easy to love, she’s such a dick”
As for creator and producer Schur, his sadness is routed in joy, “The sadness that we feel is the good kind of sadness where you are going to miss it. And I think that I’ll take that 100 times out of 100. It’s a bummer because it’s so fun to make the show, but I think we all know that it’s the right decision.”
