Even media giants are under pressure to innovate as the streaming wars intensify, now that Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus have launched and WarnerMedia’s HBO Max is set to debut in May 2020.

“We are feeling the pressure. I’d be lying if I said we weren’t,” WarnerMedia chief technology officer Jeremy Legg told Variety senior Silicon Valley correspondent Janko Roettgers at the Variety Innovate Summit presented by PwC. “But it’s good pressure, not bad pressure. You feel like you’re playing offense. You’re going out there with a product that you think the company will be proud of.”
