MTV’s Video Music Awards have always been the place to make a fashion statement with tons of iconic looks over the years from Lil’ Kim’s purple pasty to Britney Spears’ real snake boa.

At the 2019 VMAs, real-life snakes were somewhat of a trend with two stars bringing along the slithery accessory — H.E.R. and Tana Mongeau. Other trends of the night were lottos sequins, lots of skin and lots of color.

From Taylor Swift to Lizzo to Lil Nas X, the celebrities brought their fashion A-game to the red carpet and to the stage.
