Three of the year’s biggest movie stars came together in a surprise interview at the SAG Awards.
Variety’s Marc Malkin was interviewing Laura Dern from “Marriage Story” on the red carpet when her co-star Scarlett Johansson joined them. The two complimented each other’s green dress, which Dern called a “Mediterranean combo platter.”
The Oscar-nominated stars will compete against each other in the supporting actress category — Dern for “Marriage Story” and Johansson for “Jojo Rabbit” — but it was all love between them at the SAG Awards.
“It was so good, every day when she walked on the set and was sculptural. Everything was perfect, from the hair to the underpinning, the dress, the shoes, the whole combination. It was so precise,” Johansson said about working with Dern on “Marriage Story.”
Then, “Bombshell” star and fellow Oscar nominee Charlize Theron joined the group interview.
“It’s amazing. We’re all living our separate lives and have known each other for years, and it’s sad but true, but this is how you get to see your friends,” said Dern.
Theron is also up against Johansson at the Oscars, but in the lead actress race. The “Bombshell” actress already has one Academy Award under her belt and joked about what she’ll do if Johansson takes home the prize.
“I’m taking my shirt off,” she said.
