Director Guillermo del Toro and stars Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, and Michael Shannon stopped by the Variety Studio Presented by AT&T at the Toronto Film Festival to talk about del Toro’s latest, “The Shape of Water.”

Hawkins, who plays Eliza Esposito in the story of a monster who gets the girl, praised del Toro as one of the world’s “greatest filmmakers.”

“It was just a huge learning experience and I am forever grateful. I can retire now,” Hawkins said of the movie, which debuted at TIFF. “It was a gift, a huge gift.”
