Though they might make it look easy, putting on an awards show is no simple feat. Variety went behind the scenes at the SAG Awards to get the scoop from executive producer Kathy Connell, committee chair Jobeth Williams, committee members Jason George and Woody Schultz, awards director Alan Carter, committee vice chair Daryl Anderson, production designer Joe Stewart, and nominees Missi Pyle and Marcus Scribner about how the whole production runs.
“It’s a beast to put on an awards show,” said Schultz. “It looks very simple. When you think about the fact that it’s everything from the lighting design down to what forks and knives you’re going to use and who you’re partnering with for a wine sponsor –I mean, there’s so many details that I, watching awards shows over the years, never thought about.”
