Casey Cott underwent a four-hours-long transformation for “Riverdale’s” Hedwig-inspired Season 4 musical episode. But despite the tedious glam process, Cott — who plays Kevin Keller — tells Variety on the “Variety After-Show” that the experience was both incredible and humbling.

He even mastered performing in a pair of custom-made platform shoes, much to the amusement of his female castmates.

“They were like, ‘Thank God, he has to do this now.’ All the guys are like [to the women], ‘Why do you keep taking your shoes off?’ So when I got those on, they were excited to see me squeal,” says Cott. “But luckily, [the boots] were forgiving and it was fun.”

In March, “Riverdale” shut down shooting its season after a production member had been in contact with a coronavirus patient; the cast and crew still had two episodes left to shoot and would have been scheduled to wrap production last week. Cott reveals he does not yet know when he will return to work on the CW series.

He adds that while he appreciates Kevin’s blind optimism and loyalty, he would like to see his character — the first openly gay one in the Archie Comics universe — expanded upon.

I’d really like to see just a lot more colors of Kevin. While those attributes he has are super awesome, I’d love to see all the other sides of that,” says Cott.
