Reese Witherspoon Explains Why The World Needs More Rom-Coms

Reese Witherspoon may be excited about “Legally Blonde 3,” but she’s remaining tight lipped about how it’s progressing.

“I had the best meeting the other day about ‘Legally Blonde 3,'” she teased at the launch of AT&T’s new Hello Sunshine Video on Demand channel, “but I can’t tell you anything.”

She said fans could look forward to pink, some dogs, and returning cast members — “exciting stuff.”

“There might be some bending, there might be some snapping,” she joked. “We hope we don’t fall over.”

Witherspoon, who tweeted praise for Netflix’s “Set It Up,” also talked the resurgence of rom-coms.

“I think it’s great that streaming services like Netflix — there’s another platforming service that’s getting more into making more rom-coms — and I think they make people happy, and people want more romance out there. I think it’s a great shift to things that people really enjoy watching over and over again.”

Details for “Legally Blonde 3” have been sparse, but Witherspoon will produce through her Hello Sunshine production company in addition to reprising her role as Elle Woods. Original producer Marc Platt and his Platt Productions president Adam Siegel are also producing. Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, who wrote the adapted script for the 2001 original, are in talks to write the script.
