Power of Women NY: Idina Menzel Talks Benefits of Arts Camp

Idina Menzel told the crowd gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City that her career was defined by “the opportunity to put the voice of a 42-year-old woman in a much younger girl in search of herself.”

Menzel and ex-husband Taye Diggs created the foundation A Broader Way four years ago to give girls from urban communities an outlet for self-expression through the arts.

She read a poem written by one of the children from the camp, which included the line, “How far do I have to run to catch a dream?/To see all my beautiful thoughts come to life?”
