Director Patricia Riggen praised the Directors Guild of America for refuting TV networks’ claims that more male helmers are hired than females due to the latter’s lack of experience. She said a new DGA report on TV hiring practices found that the same percentage (8%) of first-time female directors was hired as experienced ones. Riggen is part of the female-empowerment production company We Do It Together, along with Juliette Binoche, Chiara Tilesi and Marianne Slot, who also chatted at Variety and Kering’s Women in Motion panel.
