Matthew McConaughey has helped 10,000 at-risk youths in inner-city high schools turn their lives around with his just keep livin Foundation, which he started in 2008.

“I have not found one single thing in this life that it doesn’t apply to,” he says of the foundation’s name.

In his acceptance speech at Variety and unite4:humanity’s pre-Oscars event for the Creative Conscience Award, McConaughey explained the roots of his philanthropy work and express his pride in offering low-income high school students “a place to go and a place to grow.”
