Many actors can tell you that auditions aren’t easy — especially Kirsten Dunst.
The actress spoke with “Mr. Robot” star Rami Malek about her own unique experience on an audition for her 1994 film “Interview With a Vampire.” Apparently, she didn’t nail it on the first try.
“I was with my coach,” she said of the audition during the fourth edition of Variety‘s “Actors on Actors.” “He was outside of the room. He listened on the door to hear, like, what I was doing. And he knows I didn’t nail it. And I walked out, and he was like, ‘No, you go back in there.'”
Obviously, as Malek noted, it worked out. Speaking to the audition process at large, Dunst called the process “the most stressful thing to me on the planet Earth.” “I hate it,” she said. “Horrifying.”
Malek, however, disagrees. “I like going in there because it’s like a proving ground,” he told her. “You get to test some things out.”
“Variety Studio: Actors on Actors” will air in two parts on PBS SoCal, presented by Shopbop/East Dane, on June 12 and June 19 at 7 p.m.
