Johanna Faries, commissioner of “Call of Duty” Esports, and Daniel Cherry, CMO of Activision Blizzard Esports, discussed the expansion of sports leagues and the inclusion of esports with Variety co-editor-in-chief, Andrew Wallenstein.

“We know how to monetize, we know how to commercialize, to make popular traditional sports,” Faries said. “Now, we can make popular the best players in the world who just happen to be playing a video game. So, we believe we’re designing future sports leagues, not future Esports leagues.”
