On Sept. 16, Variety hosted its annual Entertainment and Technology Summit at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills. One of the keynote conversations was led by Adrienne Pabst, iHeartMedia’s SVP of connections, who went into detail about the current audio revolution.
Pabst shared that iHeartMedia doesn’t “think of radio as a device, we think of radio as an experience.” She went on to say how in today’s modern society, radio can be found everywhere — in cars, smartphones, televisions, gaming consoles, and even refrigerators. “I’m proud to say that iHeartRadio is now fully integrated into your Samsung refrigerator,” said Pabst. “You can listen to it by touch or voice.”
She noted how the continual integration of radio is even making its way into the bedroom via smart speakers. “I used to have an alarm clock next to my bed, now I have an Amazon Echo Dot,” she said.
iHeartMedia took it a step further: “You can’t escape us. We are now in Southwest flights as well,” said Pabst. “So whether you’re flying to Silicon Valley or the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, you can listen to radio.”
