Elisabeth Moss cherishes the impact Baby Yoda has had on the nation.

“Here’s the thing about Baby Yoda,” Moss told Variety‘s Marc Malkin on the red carpet at the Gotham Awards in New York. “I feel like Baby Yoda has united the country in a way that is very necessary. I just feel like he has brought us all together. We can all agree on one thing, and that is that Baby Yoda is very necessary.”

For Moss, the mysterious alien toddler that became a phenomenon after its debut on “The Mandalorian,” is a nice reprieve from the nation’s current political turmoil and her packed schedule, which includes walking the carpet for her celebrated performance in “Her Smell.” After the Gotham Awards, Moss would have to almost immediately prepare to begin filming Taika Waititi’s “Next Goal Wins.”

“I have to leave tomorrow morning,” Moss said, though she was savoring the moment of being in New York.”I often get to go to award shows in LA. But it’s actually really nice to have it in my hometown of New York. And to get to have a big fancy awards show here is fun.”
