Chloe Grace Moretz: Why Making 'Miseducation of Cameron Post' Felt Like 'The Most Important Thing' Post-Election

Emily Skeggs, Forrest Goodluck, Jennifer Ehle, Desiree Akhavan, John Gallagher Jr., Chloe Grace Moretz, and Sasha Lane stopped by the Variety Studio presented by AT&T to talk about their new film “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” which follows a saga of gay conversion therapy and debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.

Director Akhavan praised Moretz for one scene in particular. They were shooting just after Donald Trump was elected President, she explained, and Moretz had to perform an especially triumphant scene even as they were devastated by the results.

“I have two gay brothers and LGBTQ was always very much on the forefront of my mind growing up,” Moretz responded. “In that moment, it felt like, I think for all of us, that that was the most important thing that we could be doing is making that movie, and giving a voice and, you know, something to the cause that is tangible.”
