Brad Pitt returned to the big screen this year with Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Ad Astra,” while Adam Sandler took a dramatic turn in Ben and Joshua Safdie’s “Uncut Gems.” In their “Variety Studio: Actors on Actors” conversation, Pitt talked about going to Tarantino’s house to read the one copy of the “Once Upon a Time” script and compared the director’s writing to Shakespeare’s. He also praised Sandler’s “convincing” colonoscopy scene in “Uncut Gems,” for which Sandler said they used a real doctor to film.
