Chiwetel Ejiofor talks about the development of “12 Years a Slave,” which was spawned when director Steve McQueen’s wife Bianca Stigter suggested he “look up real historical narratives.” Paul Dano says the movie is not only about slavery and race, but “is also about somebody trying to maintain their humanity.”
