Where the Summer Goes [Chapters on Youth]
Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema | Portugal
Portuguese helmer Vicente hails from Terceira, one of the mid-Atlantic islands making up the Azores, and is completing a M.A. in esthetics. His lush and languorous “Where Summer Goes” was selected for this year’s Berlinale shorts competition. He says: “I aspire to make films that connect personal memory with history, as a token of how people from this country, from this culture, live their lives in this unique way; through a cinematic perception that starts on the senses.” Among his influences, he lists Sofia Coppola, Robert Bresson, Lucrecia Martel, Luchino Visconti, Chantal Akerman, as well as Marguerite Duras, Jane Austen, Joni Mitchell, Alex Webb and Mark Rothko.
