(Supporting Actress, Drama)
Her reaction to the nom… and where she was: “My reaction was bewilderment, bafflement… I’m trying to think of B words now. I was in the doctor’s office waiting room, the girls’ doctor waiting room. So it was absolutely brilliant, hilarious, couldn’t have happened in a better place.”
First person she told about the nomination: “My mum, abso-bloody-lutely. Number one on speed dial. I’d love to say Arnold Schwarzenegger, but that would be a lie.
On the suggestion she should text Arnold the news. “Yes! ‘I know you’ll be enormously jealous of me, Arnold, but I’d like to give you some information…'”
On her favorite scene in season 5: “There was something so incredibly amazing about finally getting on that dragon. And no matter how green-screeny and not as fantabulous as it’ll look in the final cut, it was actually still very, very, very cool. There was this little dude behind the dragon rig, and there was supposed to be a man with a hoover blowing wind into my hair. Other than that, both my big scenes with Peter [Dinklage], and Jorah [Iain Glen] in the pyramid. Getting to act with Peter is beyond fun and Iain is one of my favorite people on the planet. There’s no point in acting unless you’ve got someone to act it with, and when you’ve got these boys who are so good and so talented and have so much experience, that was a lot of fun.”
On being nominated alongside Lena Headey: “I wholeheartedly believe that she deserves it much, much more than I do, she’s one of the finest actors ever, and I’ve grown up on the show admiring her and going to her for advice, so it’s really bloody amazing, because she puts her heart out there. I want everyone on ‘Game of Thrones’ to be nominated for something.”
On season 6 scripts: “It’s like go-go-go from episode one. I’m like a kid having a sugar high, I can’t handle how sick these scripts are. You know that David and Dan are really happy with a script when in the stage directions they just add their own commentary like ‘yeah, right, b—–s, sixth season!’ There’s a lot of that.”
