BET Awards host Taraji P. Henson, Megan Thee Stallion, H.E.R., Lil Nas X and more served looks on the red carpet before the awards show at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
Henson came prepped for her hosting duties in a Versace gown patterned with pink and the designer’s signature gold print. In an interview with Variety about the awards show, Henson shared that she is most looking forward to paying tribute to Lifetime Achievement honoree Queen Latifah.
“I want to tell her in person and on live television how much she has meant to me and how much she has inspired me,” Henson said. “She built a brand. She came from hip hop, she had a record label and flipped that, she became a TV executive producer and had her own show. She did movie after movie. She just reinvents herself.”
H.E.R., who will be performing during the show, wore a chic black blazer with mesh pants, and of course, her signature sunglasses. Lil Nas X sported a blue-and-white gown with a matching jacket that appeared to display a painting. Later on in the red carpet, he came back out sporting a second look, a floral suit with lace details. Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion rocked a white-hot dress with cutouts and Saweetie wore a blue gown with a massive train.
Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby lead the nominations for the BET Awards tonight, with seven each. Following closely behind them are Cardi B and Drake, who are each up for five awards. Besides H.E.R., BET Awards performers include Tyler the Creator, Lil Baby, Migos, Andra Day, Jazmine Sullivan and more.
The BET Awards air on BET Networks at 8 p.m.
