Goncalves led development for WarnerMedia’s much-anticipated streaming service HBO Max, which launched in May 2020 with a deep catalog of content drawn from HBO, Cartoon Network, TCM, DC Entertainment and other divisions. It’s off to a decent start — and, almost six months post-launch, finally streaming on Amazon and Roku devices after deals were reached. Amid broad restructuring of WarnerMedia in 2020, CEO Jason Kilar entrusted him oversight of a new commercial unit that brings together the domestic ad sales and distribution groups with home entertainment and content licensing. Formerly an executive at DirecTV, Goncalves also oversees WarnerMedia’s Otter Media division (originally a joint venture with the Chernin Group), which encompasses Fullscreen, Crunchyroll, VRV, Rooster Teeth, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and others.
