Waititi caught the attention of audiences and critics alike with his uniquely dark and twisted dramedy “Jojo Rabbit” (2019), which he directed and wrote, winning an adapted screenplay Oscar. In the time since, the New Zealand native got busy co-creating and exec producing FX and Hulu series “Reservation Dogs,” a comedy about Native American teens on an Oklahoma reservation, to critical acclaim in September 2021, having already produced “What We Do in the Shadows” for FX. Up next, he is directing and co-writing “Next Goal Wins,” about the American Samoan national football team’s efforts to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Then, he’ll helm the sequel to his last Marvel outing with “Thor: Love and Thunder,” in which he also voices the character Korg for a 2022 release.
