Amazon’s music streaming unit has blossomed into a multifaceted audio platform, with podcasts and livestream performances joining the on-demand audio service’s menu. The late 2020 acquisition of podcast studio Wondery got affirmation this year in the form of six Ambie Awards, the podcasting world’s equivalent of the Oscars, from the Podcast Academy, among them the big prize of Podcast of the Year for “9/12.” The Weeknd, Drake and Tyler, the Creator are among acts who’ve played Amazon livestreams, which has shared music from such festivals as Something in the Water and Head in the Clouds. Boom launched Amp, a live-audio service that includes Formula 1 coverage and a Nicki Minaj radio show among its offerings, and “Amazon Music Live,” which debuted alongside the debut in October of “Thursday Night Football” on Prime Video.
