Alexa, who’s the head of Amazon Music? That would be 49-year-old Boom, whose streaming-music subscription service Amazon Music Unlimited, while third behind both Apple Music and Spotify, is making up for lost ground with its vocal-recognition smart speaker Echo app, Alexa. Since joining in 2012, Boom helped make Amazon Music available in 30 countries as of December 2017, including Iceland, Poland and the Netherlands, while securing exclusive deals with Audi and Samsung, making the streamer available in cars and smart TVs. The Harvard Law alum spent a decade at Yahoo!, where he specialized in mobile products such as Yahoo! Go and oneSearch. In August 2017, he joined the board of MusiCares, which provides critical assistance to musicians facing hard times.
