Capitol Music Group

Chairman / CEO

A U.K. native, Barnett left New York for Hollywood in 2012 to take over at the landmark Capitol Records tower, and he’s been injecting the company with new life ever since. A former manager of AC/DC, Barnett turned British exports such as Sam Smith and homegrown discoveries like Halsey into global superstars. He empowered Motown to experience a strong, hip-hop-fueled revival, thanks to alliances with Atlanta-based Quality Control, home to hitmakers Migos, Lil Yachty and Lil Baby. Before revitalizing CMG, he was co-chair of Columbia Records, where he is credited with signing both Adele and One Direction. His ability to galvanize and inspire can be seen in such innovative events as the annual Capitol Congress, held each August, where marquee and emerging artists show their stuff.
