Barnett

Chairman / CEO

Halsey’s “Manic” was one of the first big albums of 2020. From there, Capitol Music Group strengthened its ties with Quality Control Music (Migos, Lil Baby), got into the K-pop space with SM Entertainment (NCT-127, SuperM) and reshaped Astralwerks Records to command one of the largest market shares in dance/electronic. Barnett turned his industry acumen to spearheading music documentaries as well: 2019’s “Hitsville: The Making of Motown” and a forthcoming Bee Gees take. He named Jeff Vaughn president of the flagship Capitol label and saw indie distributor Caroline grow toward a 3% market share. A champion of inclusive hiring practices, Barnett will retire from Capitol at the end of 2020.
