Murphy set a new benchmark for TV creator mega-deals with his $300 million Netflix pact last year, and in 2019 it started bearing fruit. His slate for the streamer is toplined by the series “Hollywood,” described as “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown, and adaptations of the Tony-nominated musical “The Prom,” starring Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman, and “The Boys in the Band,” featuring the cast members from that recent Broadway revival, including Matt Bomer and “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons. He also still has shows produced under his old deal with 20th Century Fox Television: Netflix series “The Politician,” starring Ben Platt; “Ratched,” with Sarah Paulson, due in 2020; and new seasons of awards magnets “American Horror Story” and “Pose.”
