Screwvala had a terrific 2018, producing, via RSVP, “Love Per Square Foot” and “Lust Stories” for Netflix, as the streamer beefed up its India slate, and TIFF people’s-choice winner “The Man Who Feels No Pain.” This year has been even better with “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” one of the top Indian grossers, and “The Sky Is Pink,” starring Priyanka Chopra, which bowed at Toronto. A cable pioneer, Screwvala founded UTV in 1990 and grew it into an entertainment conglomerate, co-producing Mira Nair’s “The Namesake” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening.” After selling UTV to Disney in 2012 and briefly running Disney India, Screwvala took a break to focus on good works, founding The Swades Foundation to ameliorate poverty and co-founding education-technology company upGrad.
