Ron
Perry

Chairman / CEO

A shining example of how quickly fortunes can change, at the top of 2019 Perry scored a home run as parent company Sony’s recorded-music operations saw a 4% dip. Success arrived in the unlikely form of a mock-country song by a gay rapper — “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X — which in July broke the all-time record for most weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and a whopping 1.3 billion-plus streams. Along with nurturing chart-toppers Vampire Weekend, Bruce Springsteen, Hozier and BTS (whose U.S. deal he oversaw), signings include Diplo and Spanish singer Rosalia. In February, he celebrated his 40th with a John Mayer, Leon Bridges and Ryan Tedder jam session.
