Freer

CEO

Joining Hulu in November 2017, Freer capitalized on momentum from the streamer’s eight Emmy wins for groundbreaking original series “The Handmaid’s Tale.” As the company underwent a reorganization and its first chief data officer came aboard, in 2018 both subscriber base and upfront advertising grew more than 50 percent year over year and viewer engagement (time spent) on the platform grew 70 percent. It scored its most Emmy nominations ever (27) and added three originals (“The Looming Tower,” “March of the Penguins 2” and “I Love You, America, with Sarah Silverman”). In 2019, Freer is sticking with the plan: aggressively grow Hulu’s subscriber base across on-demand and live TV services, deepen crea-tive relationships and expand Hulu’s brand partnerships.
