Film Director
After decades of working in the realm of fantasy, from the zombie comedy “Dead Alive” (1992) to his pair of Tolkien trilogies (“Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”), Jackson has turned his attention to the real world. In 2018, he premiered “They Shall Not Grow Old,” a documentary that used computer restoration (including colorization) and sound looping to bring World War I to life for modern audiences. Now, he’s creating a new documentary by revitalizing 55 hours of never-before-seen footage from the Beatles’ “Let It Be” sessions in 1969. Jackson, who co-owns Weta Digital and Weta Workshop effects companies and other production-related outfits in his native New Zealand — is also attached to direct a sequel to 2011’s “The Adventures of Tintin.”
