A year after HYBE merged with Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings, the K-pop powerhouse shifted its distribution from Sony’s the Orchard to Universal Music, with the incredibly popular BTS thus moving from the Columbia label to Interscope. Meanwhile, from the vantage point of his office in Seoul, Park has focused on aligning business structures and practices within HYBE America and HYBE Japan. Key to its strategy for such HYBE labels as Big Hit Music, Belift Lab and Pledis Entertainment is the fan-engagement company Weverse. In June, drafting off its biggest act’s loyal following, the company released the game “BTS Island: In the SEOM,” an interactive experience that drew 5 million users in less than two weeks. HYBE’s roster also includes boy bands Seventeen, Tomorrow X Together and ENHYPEN.
