Pamela
Abdy
Chairman & CEO, Film Group
Abdy made headlines this year when she departed MGM alongside fellow film chief Michael De Luca in the wake of the studio’s $8.5 billion sale to Amazon to co-lead Warner Bros.’ motion picture group, encompassing Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, DC-based films and Warner Animation Group. While not as well known as De Luca, Abdy has impressive cred with stints at Makeready, New Regency, Bluegrass Films and Paramount, amassing producing credits including “Queen & Slim,” “47 Ronin” and “Identity Thief” and helping to spearhead such award winners as “Birdman” and “The Revenant.” At MGM, she and De Luca fostered a filmmaker-friendly environment, turning out Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” and Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci.” Shortly after arriving at WB, they cut a multiyear deal giving the company international distribution rights to MGM’s feature slate.
