While Spotify has the most global subscribers, Apple Music is widely acknowledged as the top paid music streaming service in the U.S., a growth that was guided by Schusser, who also led expansion into 52 countries, bringing its global total to 167. It was also under his stewardship that the company launched live music events, including the iTunes Music Festival, staged in London for 10 years, along with more recent innovations such as the Apple Music Awards and the service’s real-time lyrics feature. In April 2020, his role expanded when he added oversight of Beats, which has branched out from one live radio station to three after Apple Music Hits and Apple Music Country were added to its original station, now rebranded from Beats 1 to Apple Music 1.
