Jordan, who got America’s attention in the indie bio-drama “Fruitvale Station,” became one of Hollywood’s hottest players with a drive that helped set new standards of diversity in the entertainment business, as he went after and won lead roles written for white men in movies such as “Chronicle,” “Fantastic Four” and the HBO film “Fahrenheit 451” (which he also exec-produced). Then came Marvel’s “Black Panther,” where he played a villain as nuanced as the film’s eponymous hero, and it made him even more popular — not to mention getting his face on all those “Hey Auntie” T-shirts. As star of the “Rocky” relaunch “Creed” and its sequel set for late 2018, he’s already at the head of an incipient franchise. There could be no limit to where his drive might take him next.
