Thompson played a significant role in MGM’s $8.45 billion sale to Amazon, which closed in March 2022, as the representative of Mark Burnett, the 94-year-old studio’s co-chairman and largest individual equity holder. He also repped Words + Pictures co-founder Connor Schell, as well as the co-founders and minority equity holders of 44 Blue Prods. and Dorsey Pictures, in the formation of the North Road Co., which combined Chernin Entertainment and the U.S. assets of Red Arrow Studios to create a new multigenre studio set up to produce scripted and non-scripted film and TV content for markets around the globe. Among other big deals handled by the veteran attorney are the sale of Conan O’Brien’s podcast network, digital media business and Team Coco brand to SiriusXM and the Raine Group’s sale of Thrill One Sports & Enter­tainment to Fertitta Capital.
