Beggars Group

Founder / Chairman

As a longtime board member of global rights collective Merlin, Mills has been a leading voice in the indie-label community. This year saw his Beggars Group — home of 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, XL, Young and Beggars’ own releases — fine-tune its systems for maximum performance while shoring up its organizational structure. To that end, former 4AD label manager Nabil Ayers became Beggars Group’s U.S. president, head of product management Claire Taylor rose to GM, and Andy Larsen moved from director to head of sales as 4AD’s Alyssa Debonis rose from West Coast to U.S. label manager. On the streaming side, Brandon Becker became Beggars’ first global streaming head, while Matthew Gawrych was recruited from FUGA to become U.S. streaming director. Key 2022 releases arrived from Spoon, Big Thief and Radiohead offshoot the Smile.
