Bassetti’s Banijay Group, owner of venerable and prolific Bunim/Murray Productions, merged with Zodiak in 2015 to become a pan-European production powerhouse with revenues of an estimated $1 billion. In 2019, it grew in the U.S., with ABC grabbing Banijay Studios North America’s game show “Don’t” and its “Temptation Island” reboot greenlit for a second go-round on USA Network. Banijay is best known for top-rated reality formats, but under Bassetti’s watch the company has expanded into global dramas with shows such as “Versailles,” and content spanning Spain, Germany and Southeast Asia. As of Fall 2019, Banijay is set to acquire European content house Endemol Shine for $2.2 billion, making it the largest non-U.S. player in the global TV space.
