Bassetti sits atop the world’s largest non-U.S. content producer, Banijay, following its 2020 acquisition of Endemol Shine. Banijay’s production footprint spans some 120 labels in 22 territories, and the company boasts a 110,000-hour catalogue, including shows “Peaky Blinders,” “Survivor,” “Black Mirror,” “MasterChef” and “Big Brother.” Still, Banijay is in the market for acquisitions, buying French entertainment producer DMLS TV and Dutch sports producer Southfields in the past 12 months. The entrepreneurial exec made his name in Italian production in the 1980s and ’90s, later founding Endemol Italia and rising to president and then CEO of Endemol Group. Taking over as CEO of French multi­national producer and distributor Banijay in 2013, he spearheaded the audacious acquisition of his much larger former employer.
