Bassetti

CEO

Bassetti now sits atop the world’s largest non-U.S. content producer, Banijay, after it closed its landmark deal to buy Endemol Shine Group in 2020. The entrepreneurial Italian made his name in that country’s production arm in the 1980s and 1990s, later founding Endemol Italia and rising to become president of Endemol Group. Taking over as CEO of French multinational producer and distributor Banijay in 2013, he has since spearheaded the audacious acquisition of his much larger former employer with CFO Sophie Kurinckx and chairman Stéphane Courbit. In February, they completed a refinancing drive to raise €2.4 billion ($2.8 billion) for the deal, which closed in July. Banijay’s production footprint now spans some 120 labels in 22 territories, while distribution division Banijay Rights houses an 88,000-hour catalog.
