In October 2020, with its theme park income decimated and theatrical releases effectively halted by the pandemic, Disney restructured its operations, putting Daniel in charge of media and entertainment distribution, a new division responsible for delivering and monetizing product from all of the company’s content engines globally across its platforms, as well as the operation of streaming outlets like Disney Plus, Hulu, ESPN Plus and upcoming international service Star. He was one of the main faces during Disney’s Investor Day event in December, unveiling dozens of new programming for Disney Plus. A 14-year Disney veteran, Daniel joined the company as a senior business planner, later working in games, publishing and studio distribution before serving as president of Walt Disney Imagineering and then consumer products. He’s a trusted lieutenant to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, who first hired Daniel as an intern while he was getting his MBA at Stanford University.
