In December 2020, CAA settled its legal battle with the WGA over packaging, leaving Cohen free to work his dealmaking magic for his large stable of top writers and showrunners that includes Taylor Sheri­dan (“Yellowstone”) and “Cobra Kai” creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. In recent months, Cohen, who joined CAA in 1987, brokered a number of high-profile producing deals, including a $25 million extension of Alex Kurtzman’s pact with CBS Studios, where he currently commands no less than five “Star Trek” shows, and a new deal for Kenya Barris (“Black-ish”) with ViacomCBS. Cohen also signed new clients such as Nichelle Tramble Spellman (“Truth Be Told”), Molly Smith Metzler (“Maid”), Shawn Ryan (“S.W.A.T.”) and Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”).
