CEO

McVay has a well-deserved reputation as a powerful, skilled champion of the £3 billion ($3.9 billion) U.K. independent production sector. Early on in his near-20-year stint as head of producers trade body Pact, he helped lay that groundwork by securing U.K. government approval for indies to hold onto program rights. McVay’s advocacy has been on full display during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the company playing a pivotal role in drawing up safe production guidelines and leading a task force that persuaded officials to set up a £500 million ($656 million) insurance fund for productions, though the necessary approval from the European Union was still pending. The Scottish McVay received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) last year for services to the media and creative industries, appearing at Buckingham Palace in his kilt to receive the honor.
