This year he battled against the U.K. government’s plans to privatize public-service broadcaster Channel 4, a key commissioner of British producers. McVay also rallied broadcasters and content providers to create a YouTube channel, Sunflower TV, for displaced Ukrainian children, with programs in both Ukrainian and English. The org is now exploring policy options to rectify the decline in U.K.-originated children’s content, as well as prioritizing work on the case for an enhanced U.K. tax credit for indie features following a British Film Institute report that showed evidence of a “market failure” in independent film.
