Amazon Studios, under the leadership of longtime programming pro Salke, has received best comedy Emmys for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Fleabag” for two straight years in a row — 2018 and 2019, respectively — as it continues to grow its footprint in the industry as an expansive streamer with the power of 150 million global subscribers. She’s also proved a quick study on the film side of the business, acquiring the sequels to “Coming to America” and “Borat” during the pandemic. Salke has more than doubled the number of the studio’s local originals from 26 to 56 over the past two years, and the company sees that figure doubling again in 2021. Among the star-studded talent that she has drawn to the studio with production deals are Nicole Kidman, Lizzo, Jordan Peele and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
