Head

Salke has pitched Amazon Studios as a good home for talent, with its unlimited resources, and it’s hard to disagree as it spends a reported $465 million for the first season of its “Lord of the Rings” TV series. Since taking charge of the studio in 2018, she’s increased its international output from 26 local originals in 8 countries to 56 local originals in 11 countries by 2020. Armed with a reported content budget of $8 billion, Salke is expected to increase that number nearly 100% year-over-year in 2021, with more than 100 local originals in 15 countries. The studio recorded its best-ever performance at the Oscars, nabbing 12 nominations and two wins (including best actor for Riz Ahmed in “Sound of Metal”) and minting new hits like action movie “The Tomorrow War.”
