Since becoming president and CEO in September 2019 after the departure of Chris Albrecht, Hirsch has overseen the expansion of Starz’ footprint internationally. Currently in 50 countries, Starz is aiming to spread to 90 over the next three years while projecting as many as 15 million to 20 million global subscribers by 2025. The premium cabler’s OTT business has grown its U.S. subscriber base some 68% to 7.4 million, and globally to 11.4 million. Hirsch was responsible for the launches of the Starz app in the U.S. and Starzplay worldwide, having signed on in 2015 as head of global marketing and product development. Under his leadership, Starz is a leader in diversity as its series showrunners are 68% women, including 31% women of color, and original programs are 67% female-led.
