A unique kind of multi-hyphenate, the accomplished British producer, director, author, doctor and military man has become a scriptwriting sensation, leading him to an Emmy nomination for Netflix/BBC One’s six-part “Bodyguard,” about a PTSD-afflicted police officer. But his BBC success has been colored by his far-reaching life experiences, including his service in the British Royal Air Force’s medical unit in the early 1990s. “Cardiac Arrest” was his first script, which ran successfully from 1994 to 1996 and led him to jump to writing full-time for TV. Early accolades included another medical drama, “Bodies,” which garnered two BAFTA nominations for best drama series. His critically acclaimed police drama, “Line of Duty,” just completed its fifth season and has been ordered for a sixth.
