Since leaving the cast “Saturday Night Live” in 2013 after a 10-year stint, Sudeikis hummed along with numerous comedic film and TV roles and a well-received dramatic turn in 2017’s “Kodachrome.” But his Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso” — which he produces and co-writes in addition to starring in as a sunny American football coach hired to take over a British soccer club under false pretenses — has become the streamer’s main hit, scoring its best-ever viewership numbers with its second season debut in July 2021. The show’s first season earned 20 noms at the 2021 Emmys, the most ever for a new comedy series, and took home seven awards, including two for Sudeikis himself before he returned to “SNL” as a first-time host in October.
