Mock signed a three-year, multimillion-dollar pact with Netflix in June 2019 for exclusive rights to television series and a first-look option on feature projects, making her the first trans woman of color to score an overall deal with a streamer, network or studio. In 2020, she continued to serve as writer, director and executive producer of cabler FX’s “Pose” for its third season. She also directed two episodes of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix limited series “Hollywood,” for which she also served as an executive producer. The Hawaii native is set to direct the feature film “Scandalous!” starring Jeremy Pope as Sammy Davis Jr., before teaming yet again with Murphy for the Netflix feature “Janet,” chronicling the life of Washington Post journalist Janet Cooke who walked back her Pulitzer after confessing to the fabrication of the story she won it for.
