Writer / Producer

When Mock co-wrote (with series co-creator Ryan Murphy) and directed the “Love Is the Message” episode of FX’s “Pose” last year, she became the first trans woman of color to pen, helm and produce for a series. The show received six Emmy nominations, including outstanding drama series, shared by Mock. A former staff editor at People, the Hawaii native published her memoir, “Redefining Realness,” in 2015, and it became a New York Times bestseller. In June, she signed a three-year, multimillion-dollar pact with Netflix for exclusive rights to her TV series and a first-look option on feature projects. As part of the deal, she’ll serve as an executive producer and director on “Hollywood,” Murphy’s upcoming series for the streamer saluting the Golden Age of Tinseltown.
