Rae’s busy 2020 included a fourth season of “Insecure” — her own creation that’s brought critical praise and two Emmy noms. She also scored another nod as executive producer of HBO’s “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” She continued to partner with HBO for her role in the Paul Rudnick comedy “Coastal Elites” and for “Seen & Heard,” an upcoming documentary about the history of Black television. Rae’s big-screen film activities have picked up speed with starring roles in the romantic drama “The Photograph” and comedic thriller “The Lovebirds,” and she will appear in B.J. Novak’s Blumhouse thriller “Vengeance,” which had to face the pandemic pause. In September, she consolidated her varied projects with the launch of Hoorae prodco, a branchout of her Issa Rae Productions.
