Hans Vestberg

The 25-year veteran of Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson is now running one of the U.S.’ top two wireless carriers and looking to build out next-gen 5G networks nationwide. Vestberg joined Verizon as CTO in early 2017, before taking the reins as CEO in August 2018. The Swedish native had spent most of his career at Ericsson, where he traveled the globe in various management roles including CFO. His focus at Verizon will be on making the company’s industry-leading mark in low-latency 5G wireless — think high volume and superfast — infrastructure, which it’s launching in test markets in 2018. At the same time, Vestberg is overseeing the company’s broad digital-media play with Oath, which couples AOL and Yahoo.
