George
Cheeks

President & CEO, CBS Entertainment / Chief Content Officer, News & Sports, Paramount+

Cheeks gained more turf in the ViacomCBS orbit in June 2021 when he was given oversight of news and sports programming for Paramount+, adding to his current duties of overseeing CBS-branded assets, a role he assumed the previous March. Cheeks has also grappled with internal organizational issues, ousting the top two top leaders of its O&O division after questionable behavior emerged at many stations. He steered the combination of CBS Television Stations and CBS News into a single unit. CBS News president Susan Zirinsky was succeeded after two years in the job by Neeraj Khemlani and Wendy McMahon. Cheeks was the key player in CBS’ renegotiation of its NFL rights deal, a mammoth $2 billion-a-year pact unveiled in March that runs through 2033.
